Personal Interview – Day One Armchair BEA

Zombie Me :)

1.) Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name's Becky B., I hail from the great state of Nebraska. I'm a Library Assistant at a community college and I love reading and helping people (so my job's perfect for me :) ) I'll have been blogging for two years as of August 16, 2010 (and I hope to continue blogging for many more years.

I got into blogging by first discovering Twitter and all the various authors and blogs on there. I think the first blogs I discovered were All Things Urban Fantasy and Parajunkee's View. At first I applied to be a reviewer for a blog but after that didn't happen I thought why not have full control and start my own blog. Thus Bibliognome was born that fateful August day and I've been blogging ever since. I love blogging because I get to connect with people and spread the literary love of reading.

2.) What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
I just recently finished reading Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks and haven't decided what book to start next yet. My favorite book of 2012 so far is Pure by Julianna Baggott because it's utterly unique and the story goes in so many unexpected directions (it's definitely the top dystopian book that I've read).

3.) What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
My favorite feature on Bibliognome is the Sentence Sneak Peeks that I do. I love this feature so much because it's one of the first ideas I came up with when I started blogging. I think it's a lot of fun to quote the first sentence from each chapter of a book because a lot of the time when you put them all together it has almost a poetic quality.

4.) Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
My most recent favorite post is Story Time. I like Story Time so much because it's ongoing and it encourages people to interact by adding a line to the story. Also I think it's turning into a pretty great story.

5.) What literary location would you most like to visit? Why? The literary location I would most like to visit is the Shadow Realm from the Dark Jewel series by Anne Bishop. I would love to visit this place because it would be awesome to meet all the creatures and people from the different territories. Also of course I would love to see what jewel I would have and then discover all the myriad of things that I could do with that.

I have not yet read Pure, but I've heard some good things about it. I have to admit that the synopsis really intrigues me!

You should definitely read PURE :) It is a rather large book but the pages just fly by and it takes place in such an interesting weird world.

  7. I'm not surprised Pure is one of your faves of 2012. I never finished it after it started inducing nightmares which involved butterflies and baby dolls... but I could tell that it would be one amazing book!

    1. Yeah, it has some really strong imagery so I can imagine it would probably give people nightmares. It really is an amazing book I think you probably just have to be in the right mood to read a scary/sometimes gory dystopian book.

  20. Hi Becky! What is it like being a Library Assistant? Sometimes I wish I had gone to school for something in the librarian/library fields, but as a teen I don't think I ever thought of it as a career.

Glad you are doing something you love. :)

    1. Hi Chrystal :)
Being a Library Assistant is great because you get to be around books all day and help people with computer questions and research. Thanks yeah you should have seen me when I received the phone call telling me I got the job (let's just say there was a lot of nervous laughter). :)

  21. What a cool job to have. Honestly, do you snag the latest books to read before the public can get to them? lol

Your zombie face just reminded me of a crazy prank some guy played in Miami a few days ago. He played a zombie and went to terrorize and scare the bejesus out of them. It's a hilarious vid, but in retrospect it is a definite wonder he wasn't killed. Check it out if you get a chance.

By the way, nice to meet you.

    1. Hi Jeremy, nice to meet you too. :) Yeah it's a cool job and honestly I do get to read some books before the public. :)

Nice, I dressed up as part of a zombie walk and would have to agree with you that dressing up as a zombie to scare people would be frowned upon or just dangerous most days.

      Have a great day.

  22. Love the zombie-fied pic! Have you ever done a zombie walk? There's a huge one here in Pittsburgh every year that I've always meant to participate in but never have. Maybe this year.

I also loved Pure. It was so dark and scary!
