Shanyn from Chick Loves Lit came up with this awesome feature for Mondays.
Shanyn says, "“Recommend A…” will have a new prompt every week, which I will have posted ahead of time on the Recommend A… page. All you have to do is Recommend with me on Mondays, following the prompt, and link me so I (and everyone else) can see what you’ve recommended!"
This week I Recommend A...book you thought was funny
Here's the summary from Goodreads:
"Dash and Lily, 16, find themselves on their own in Manhattan at Christmas. Dash is alone by choice–he's told each of his divorced parents that he's spending the holiday with the other, leaving them both to take vacations out of town. Lily's parents are taking the honeymoon they couldn't afford when they got married. They think that Lily is in the capable hands of her older brother, but he's less interested in her than in his new boyfriend, and then he gets sick and spends most of the holiday in bed. He does, however, start in motion the activity that is central to the story. It involves a red Moleskine notebook with a list of literary clues that Lily leaves in the stacks at the Strand bookstore. Bookish and erudite Dash finds it and is intrigued enough to follow Lily's lead and leave some clues of his own..."
This book is hilarious and will really draw you in. I was reading this book while having the oil changed on my truck, I was so into it that I didn't even hear them calling my name telling me they were done. :)
There are plenty of laugh out loud moments, here are some of my favorite lines:
"You bookish little pervert."
"He touched Santa!"
"Well, what's in your Amazonian hope chest?"
This one has been on my tbr list for a while. I'm glad to hear it's so funny, I love when a book can make me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteHi, yeah this is definitely a laugh out loud book, It has a lot of humor and heart.
DeleteI have been hearing this is a cute read for a while now, but I have so much to read I don't think I will ever get to it. The summary sounds great and I love both authors.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Recommend A..post- http://youngatheartbookblog.blogspot.com/2012/06/recommend-a3.html

Hi, thanks for stopping by. I would definitely recommend this book, it's a great read and not that long if I remember right. :)
DeleteLove me some David Levithan but I haven't read this one! Laugh out loud moments are ideal and so rare for me so I might have to move this one to the top!
ReplyDeleteHi Alyssa, yeah this book is ideal if you're looking for a laugh/a great holiday read. :) It's a fun/quick read and should definitely go towards the top of your to be read pile.
DeleteSounds really good, I just add it to my TBR list.

It is surprisingly good. :) Cool, hope you enjoy it too if you read it.
DeleteOh this is an awesome pick. I went more funny than strictly FUN but I think this book really straddles the line between the two. In a great way. Good call!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) Yeah it really does walk the line well between being fun and funny and it's just so quotable.
DeleteI've seen this book around, but I've never really paid it any attention. It sounds great!
