BEA Day 3 – Topic “Networking...In Real Life?!”
“Today's suggested writing topic...we'd love for you to share a positive "real life" experience with books! Either by way of your own partnerships in your community, a book signing you went to or possibly even a get together with fellow book bloggers. Tell us all about it!”
My most recent “real life”
experience with books happened on World Book Night, I posted about it
here.
I love the whole idea of World Book Night and was thrilled to be accepted as a Giver. I was even more happy because I got to giveaway copies of The Hunger Games (I love the book and it's also the first book that everyone in my family has read and liked.)

I gave away the books at the
community college library where I work. I was proud of myself
because this was the first time that I was proactive at my job and
actually asked to set up an event. I expanded the giving beyond the
20 copies of The Hunger Games by having people bring in books
in good condition that they wanted to giveaway. This way there were
plenty of books to go around. Now people are already looking forward
to next year. I'm also thinking we might be able to have another
giveaway with books people bring in if I promote it more and get more
interest going (maybe once a month or bi-monthly). It was a ton of
fun and has inspired me to become more involved at my library and to
push for more events and interactions with patrons.
That sounds fanatstic. I love spreading the love of someone's favourite books to other people.
ReplyDeleteI hope you manage to get the interest and have more giveaways. :)
Yes, it was a lot of fun. I really do adore the idea of giving away a favorite book to a lot of people.
DeleteThanks, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that we plan more giveaways soon.

Definitely I guess THE HUNGER GAMES just really brings people together. :)
DeleteIt was an awesome experience and a great feeling now when people have been coming back to the library and saying how they flew right through the book and our now wanting to request the 2nd and 3rd book. :) :)
