Zombie Me :)
1.)
Please
tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you
been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My
name's Becky B., I hail from the great state of Nebraska. I'm a
Library Assistant at a community college and I love reading and
helping people (so my job's perfect for me :) ) I'll have been
blogging for two years as of August 16, 2010 (and I hope to
continue blogging for many more years.
I
got into blogging by first discovering Twitter and all the various
authors and blogs on there. I think the first blogs I discovered
were All Things Urban Fantasy and Parajunkee's View. At first I
applied to be a reviewer for a blog but after that didn't happen I
thought why not have full control and start my own blog. Thus
Bibliognome was born that fateful August day and I've been blogging
ever since. I love blogging because I get to connect with people and
spread the literary love of reading.
2.)
What
are you currently reading, or what
is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
I just recently finished reading Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks and haven't decided what book to start next yet. My favorite book of 2012 so far is Pure by Julianna Baggott because it's utterly unique and the story goes in so many unexpected directions (it's definitely the top dystopian book that I've read).
3.) What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?

My
favorite feature on Bibliognome is the Sentence Sneak Peeks that I
do. I love this feature so much because it's one of the first ideas
I came up with when I started blogging. I think it's a lot of fun to
quote the first sentence from each chapter of a book because a lot of
the time when you put them all together it has almost a poetic
quality.
4.) Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
4.) Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
My
most recent favorite post is Story Time. I like Story Time so much
because it's ongoing and it encourages people to interact by adding a
line to the story. Also I think it's turning into a pretty great
story.
5.) What literary location would you most like to visit? Why? The literary location I would most like to visit is the Shadow Realm from the Dark Jewel series by Anne Bishop. I would love to visit this place because it would be awesome to meet all the creatures and people from the different territories. Also of course I would love to see what jewel I would have and then discover all the myriad of things that I could do with that.

Abigail and Rachel are both fantastic bloggers to follow! I'm not surprised they were some of the first you discovered!
ReplyDeleteI have not yet read Pure, but I've heard some good things about it. I have to admit that the synopsis really intrigues me!
Yeah, they were a great introduction to book blogging.
DeleteYou should definitely read PURE :) It is a rather large book but the pages just fly by and it takes place in such an interesting weird world.
this is my first Armchair BEA and I'm enjoying hopping along to the blogs and meeting folks.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Armchair BEA :) Nice to meet you, here's hoping you have a lot of fun.
DeleteHi, Becky! Dropping by for the Armchair BEA. I love the name of your blog. :)
ReplyDelete-Len of Musings of a Reader Happy
Hi, thanks for stopping by. :)
DeleteGlad you love the name, I love books and gnomes so I knew it was the perfect name for my blog.
HA, I love your zombie pic! Love that you found book blogging via Twitter - people can make fun of it but Twitter is seriously the best sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHappy ABEA!!!
Thanks that's a pic from my first Zombie Walk (now that was a lot of fun) :)
DeleteYeah I love twitter because it's so easy to find new blogs and get quick links to people/stories.
I love the dog dressed as Shrek....too cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, yeah, I thought she looked a lot like a gnome in that pic. :)
DeleteAwesome blog!! I love dogs!! This is my first Armchair BEA too!!
ReplyDeletehttp://lovesbooksreviews.blogspot.com/2012/06/armchair-bea-about-me.html
Hello and thanks, yeah I love dogs (our current dogs are both rescue dogs and quite the characters I have posts about them just search for Midnite or Opal).
DeleteHave a great Armchair BEA. :)
I'm not surprised Pure is one of your faves of 2012. I never finished it after it started inducing nightmares which involved butterflies and baby dolls... but I could tell that it would be one amazing book!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it has some really strong imagery so I can imagine it would probably give people nightmares. It really is an amazing book I think you probably just have to be in the right mood to read a scary/sometimes gory dystopian book.
DeleteThis is my first Armchair BEA - in fact I have only been blogging a v. short time so it's all new. It's great getting to meet new people and read their interesting stories.I love the idea of putting together the 1st sentences!
ReplyDeleteHi, welcome to Armchair BEA :)
DeleteThanks, the Sentence Sneak Peeks are a lot of fun to write. Glad to meet you, hope you find a lot of great blogs/people.
Hi Becky! I was a little shocked when the page loaded and I saw that zombie photo! :D Very awesome! I think it's great that you decided to start your own blog when you weren't able to secure a reviewer position for another blog.
ReplyDeleteHi, nice, glad you like the zombie pic (the pic was from the first zombie walk I went to). Thanks, yeah it was definitely one of the reasons I started blogging because I figured, why not control what you write and make your own rules. :)
DeleteI'm going to have to check out Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend, just because I love that name!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Armchair BEA.
Hi Laura,
DeleteYou should check it out, the name's one of the reasons I picked up the book too. :)
Oh story time sounds fun. I've never participated in that memo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating!
Here's my intro

Hi, great to meet you too. :) Here's hoping you have a great Armchair BEA.
DeleteHi There,
ReplyDeleteIt sound alike I need to add Pure to my TBR list . . . :)
Hi,
DeleteYes, you should definitely read PURE, it's an awesome book full of great twists and turns. :)
I like that Sentence Sneak Peeks feature! That's such a unique idea. Nice to meet you :)
ReplyDeleteMy intro
Thanks, glad you like the Sentence Sneak Peeks, I think it's a cool way to preview a book. Glad to meet you too. :)
DeleteHi Becky! I'm glad you decided to run your own blog. It really is much more fun. :D
ReplyDeleteHey Jillian, yeah having my own blog is definitely more fun. :)
DeleteI found book bloggers through twitter too. Usually it is the other way around. I'm glad you decided to go ahead and start your own.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I do have a lot of fun blogging. Yeah, I'm on twitter all the time and am always finding new people to follow/@.
DeleteI've wanted to read Pure for so long, I keep hearing wonderful things about it! And shallow as it may be for me to say, I adore the cover - the gloss and matte mix is so striking on the shelves!
ReplyDeleteHappy Armchair BEA and nice to meet you!
Cool, I would definitely put it on your To Be Read Pile/list. I agree, The cover is really striking.
DeleteHi Becky! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier! It was fun to read your interview and get to know you a little better :)
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, thanks for visiting Bibliognome too. :) Glad you liked the interview, glad to get to know you too.
DeleteHi Becky! Nice to meet you! I love that you make the first lines of chapters into poetry!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel, nice to meet you too. Glad you like the Sentence Sneak Peeks, it is pretty cool how poetic they sound sometimes. :)
DeleteHi Becky! What is it like being a Library Assistant? Sometimes I wish I had gone to school for something in the librarian/library fields, but as a teen I don't think I ever thought of it as a career.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are doing something you love. :)
Hi Chrystal :)
DeleteBeing a Library Assistant is great because you get to be around books all day and help people with computer questions and research. Thanks yeah you should have seen me when I received the phone call telling me I got the job (let's just say there was a lot of nervous laughter). :)
What a cool job to have. Honestly, do you snag the latest books to read before the public can get to them? lol
ReplyDeleteYour zombie face just reminded me of a crazy prank some guy played in Miami a few days ago. He played a zombie and went to terrorize and scare the bejesus out of them. It's a hilarious vid, but in retrospect it is a definite wonder he wasn't killed. Check it out if you get a chance.
By the way, nice to meet you.
Hi Jeremy, nice to meet you too. :) Yeah it's a cool job and honestly I do get to read some books before the public. :)
DeleteNice, I dressed up as part of a zombie walk and would have to agree with you that dressing up as a zombie to scare people would be frowned upon or just dangerous most days.
Have a great day.
Love the zombie-fied pic! Have you ever done a zombie walk? There's a huge one here in Pittsburgh every year that I've always meant to participate in but never have. Maybe this year.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Pure. It was so dark and scary!
Thanks, that picture was actually from the first zombie walk we had around here. I would definitely recommend participating, it's a lot of fun. :)
DeleteCool, PURE is indeed full of some darkness and scary stuff. I really loved the wide range of characters it has.
That zombie pic had me looking twice. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the Armchair BEA.

Nice :) I wanted to use an unexpected/fun pic.
DeleteYou have a great Armchair BEA too.
I think your Sentence Sneak Peak rocks. What a clever idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's a lot of fun to put the sneak peeks together because it really lets people see a good glimpse of the story. :)
