Sentence Sneak Peek - Obsidian

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The first sentence from each chapter of Obsidian, it's a mini summary of what you can expect to read.

* Spoilers are highlighted like so :)

"I stared at the pile of boxes in my new bedroom, wishing the Internet had been hooked up."

"It took the entire drive into Petersburg for me to calm down."

"The day my Internet was hooked up was better than having a hot guy check out my butt and ask for my phone number."

"I skipped posting on my blog on M0nday, mainly because it was usually a "What are you reading" type thing and I wasn't reading anything new at the moment."

"When the first cracks of light came through the windows, I rolled onto my side, still half asleep."

"Daemon!"

"Dee called that night, and even though I wanted to tell her that my time with Daemon hadn't been all puppy dog tails and rainbows, I lied."

"When I opened my eyes again, there was a strange metallic taste in my mouth."

"After dinner with Mom, I headed out."

"I didn't make it a habit to frequent hospitals."

"The Sunday before school was scheduled to start, Dee took me into town to pick up notebooks while she replaced almost everything she used for school with a new item."

"I didn't have much time to ask Dee about this other brother in English AP because I was late getting to class."

"I'd made a name for myself by the end of the day."

"I tried paying attention in my classes, but my mind was on Daemon and what he wanted to talk to me about tonight."

"A loud crack of thunder—only more powerful—reverberated through the valley."

"This was one of those moments in my life that I didn't know if I should laugh, cry, or run away as fast as possible."

"Bright light pushed through the windows, piercing the darkness that I'd been so comfortable in."

"Katy, you've been so quiet today."

"Like he'd turned off my bitch switch, all I could do was stare at him."

"Daemon was surprisingly subdued in math on Wednesday."

"Astonishingly, things were sort of...normal now."

"The night of the dance I was full of nerves."

"The Field was about two miles outside of Petersburg, heading in the opposite direction of my house."

"Fear rose so quickly it left me dizzy, almost numb."

"When I awoke the following morning, the sun had crested the mountains surrounding the valley."

"Honey, are you sure you're feeling okay?"

"I hated Daemon Black—if that was even his real name—with a vengeance that equaled the solar power of a thousand suns."

"Of course that didn't mean he was coming right here, but there was a chance—a big chance—that he was."

"Baruck's mad laughter echoed and bounced around my skull."

"It literally hurt deep inside not being able to post my "Waiting on Wednesday", but I still had several weeks before my birthday."
