Armchair BEA Day 1 - Introduction

Hello everybody, welcome to Bibliognome and welcome to another year of Armchair BEA. Today is Introduction day so here we go:

1.) Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? Where in the world are you blogging from?

My name’s Becky B. I’ve been blogging since August 16, 2010. I got into blogging because as my first post says:
“Why the name Bibliognome, well I like gnomes and I like books so I combined the two.  Since starting a full time job as a Library Assistant I've been reading a lot more.  I've always enjoyed reading but now I want to try my hand at reviewing. Feel free to tell me what you like and tell me what you hate. I'm always up for a good discussion.”

I’ve always loved reading and after discovering Twitter and the giant book blogging community there I knew I had to be a part of it.
I’m blogging from Omaha, NE which has had a surprising amount of cool author events.

2.) Describe your blog in just one sentence. Then, list your social details -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. -- so we can connect more online.

Bibliognome is an eclectic blog chock full of book related goodness and a dash of my personal life/whatever I think is awesome.
Where to Find Bibliognome:
Twitter: @GeckyBoz
* I did have a Facebook account for Bibliognome but the blog got marked as a security risk for some reason and now I can’t post anything so let’s just say me and Facebook aren’t on good terms because I keep emailing them and they do nothing...

3.) What genre do you read the most? I love to read because ___________________ .

I read mostly YA with a mix of Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy and whatever else looks interesting. I love to read because reading can make you essentially feel all of the feelings. Reading can make you laugh, cry, smile, and really think about the world around you/what the future might just look like.

4.) What was your favorite book read last year? What’s your favorite book so far this year?

I can’t pick just one but a couple of favorites I read last year were Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, Written in Red by Anne Bishop, and Invisibility by Andrea Cremer and David Levithan.

My favorite books so far this year are Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi, and Monument 14: Savage Drift by Emmy Laybourne.

5.)  What book would you love to see as a movie?

I would jump for joy if any of Anne Bishop’s books became a movie. I just love everything about the world and characters that she writes and any of her books would make for some truly epic movies.

  1. I read mainly YA myself. But I love what you said about reading and emotions. That so perfectly describes it.

I am getting ready to start on Crown of Midnight myself. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to read that book.

  10. You're not missing out a lot by not having your blog on Facebook.. with all the changes to how they promote pages, it basically sucks unless you pay for advertising. I quit promoting my FB page for that reason.

Ahh, you reminded me Monument 14 came to an end. I sped through the first book and loved it, but forgot all about the series until now.

  12. Hallo, Hallo! :)

I am a cheerREADER via #ArmChairBEA Team4! :) Quite the clever lead-in posting a picture of yourself in front of a heap of gnomes! I used to appreciate the children's anime series "David the Gnome"! Did you ever see it!? I grew up in the 80s, you see! :) Oh, my your an Upper MidWest blogger -- which is quite wicked as I love discovering where we all blog from as most of us appear to be closer to bigger cities & urban venues for bookish events! I love celebrating everyone who blogs about books and I think the one thing that is not as known is that there are bookish events to attend in person nearly anywhere there is a love of books to be found! :)

I appreciate the work of librarians & their assistants as a lot of what I read on a regular basis during the year is borrowed with a happy heart from my local library! I am always sharing my library 'stories' as well throughout my blog! :)

I love how you love to read the stories where you are evoked through emotion to connect into the story itself! I find this to be true each time I step inside the chapters of a novel whose transportation is so keen that I nearly forsake the ability to re-emerge out of the book! Laughs. I still feel attached to Ancient Egypt right now as I read about Hatshepsut at the start of the weekend! Love going into a new timescape that I am not usually able to visit!

    1. Hi :)
Nice, I'm a cheerReader for Team 8. Thanks, glad you like the gnomes. I've seen bits and pieces of David the Gnome. Yes Nebraska is an interesting place to blog from and you just have to know where to look to hear about some awesome bookish events.

Awesome, yeah being a library assistant at a community college lets me get to do a lot of library tasks all in one place and I get to help a wide variety of people. As you can imagine I of course check out a ton of books from the library too.

Thanks again, yes I've always loved reading because of the emotions and where stories can take you. Nice I love ancient Egypt history too.

  14. Just like you I read a lot of YA, but I also love NA and Adult. I also read some MG books, but not that many. Lately I've been trying to read some more sci-fi books as I used to shy away from that genre as I thought it was boring, weird huh. The book blogger community is one of the most fun things of being a book blogger. I just ordered my copy of Written in Red a few dyas ago and I am looking forward to reading it as I've heard great things about it.

  15. Thank you so much for stopping by my post! I love gnomes too, but sadly I don't have any in a collection. And, I've been to Omaha a few times. It's such a lovely city. It has one of the best Japanese restaurants that I've been to there. :D

    1. :) Yes, there's just something about gnomes that I like. Oh yeah there are a surprising amount of awesome restaurants in this town. :)

  16. Written in Red was one of my favorite books last year and I would love to see it made into a movie. Did you read the next book in the series yet - Murder of Crows?

I have lots of garden gnomes. They are supposed to protect my plants from being eaten by bunnies but so far they are not doing their job!

    1. I adore that book but haven't gotten to read the second book yet. I plan to ASAP.

Nice, I really want to get some zombie or zombie killer gnomes for my yard.

    2. Murder of Crow was almost as good as Written in Red. I think my expectations were just too high after the book. And Simon got a little too tame for my liking, but just a little.

The yard gnomes are leprechauns. I thought perhaps they could work some magic for me.

    3. Nice, yeah I always worry about sequels living up to the originals and I'm looking forward to this one.

Well maybe the leprechauns need help from more gnomes. :)

  17. I love the gnome. Very cute. That's a nice selection of books - I read all kinds but I end up with YA, Urban fantasy, and sci fi. I enjoyed Written in Red. I've listened to the audio and I want to read the book as well.
