Meet Rachel - One of Bibliognome's new Reviewers

Today I'm very happy to introduce/welcome one of Bibliognome’s new reviewers, Rachel.  I'm thrilled to have more reviewers because this will allow Bibliognome to review even more books.

Her blog can be found here
Twitter: @Silelda

Rachel’s Bio: Rachel Noel is a Michigan native who took some time off to attend college in Iowa for a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and a Master’s in Library and Information Science. These days she’s back in Michigan working an international online database repository…Basically it’s an expensive, but extensive database of serials. When she is not at work she enjoys baking, reading, learning new coding languages, and playing games (board and video) with her husband.

Interview with Rachel

Bibliognome: Why do you think it’s important to review books?

Rachel: As someone who has been burned by the hype surrounding popular books, I greatly appreciate reviews. Even if they are positive or negative, they show me things about the book (i.e. vague endings, inappropriate humor) that I may hate or love and I can make a significantly more informed decision.

Bibliognome: What’s been your favorite book so far this year?

Rachel: My favorite NEW book so far this year (because I've reread a few favorites) is probably A Million Ways to Die in the West, based on the screenplay for the upcoming movie by Seth MacFarlane. It was highly inappropriate at the best of times, but I almost rolled out of bed because I was laughing so hard. And the story flowed just right. No annoying plot holes, etc.

Bibliognome: Hardcover, paperback or ebook?

Rachel: This may sound strange, but I've almost always preferred paperback. I find them easier to carry around than hardcopy, and I still get the feel of a book that I don't from eBooks.

Bibliognome: What super power would you want the most?

Rachel: Only one superpower? Dang. I guess I'd want the ability to download information to my brain and be able to sort it, tag it, and have ready access to it for the rest of my days. A walking database.

Bibliognome: If you had a gnome, what would its name be?

Rachel: I've actually had this discussion for D&D. "Aiden" meaning "Little Fire".

Bibliognome: What’s your favorite book or series?

Rachel: There was a time when I'd have no problems answering with "The Dragonriders of Pern series!" Now, I'm not so sure. I think the dragons have been usurped by a series about superheroes trying to help people survive in the zombie apocalypse. The Ex-Heroes series by Peter Clines has even led me to other great books I never would have known about. So I guess, for this decade, they're the favorite series.

Bibliognome: What’s your favorite book to movie adaption?

Rachel: RED. The original comic book has so very little to do with the movie, but I love what they did with it in the movie. The book was all violence and going out in a blaze of glory. The movie was a lot more relaxed and enjoyable

Bibliognome: Anything else we should know about you?

Rachel: Feel free to send the dark humor books my way :)

Meet kylieqxoxo, one of Bibliognome's new Reviewers

Today I'm very happy to introduce/welcome one of Bibliognome’s new reviewers, kylieqxoxo.  I'm thrilled to have more reviewers because this will allow Bibliognome to review even more books.

Her blog can be found here

kylieqxoxo’s Bio: My name is Kylie Quinn Jones, I'm a freshman in college studying Elementary Education with an emphasis in English. I hope one day to become an Academic Advisor at the college level. I am absolutely passionate about reading; I started to read at the age of three and I haven't been without a book since. I write an amateur book blog, as well as run Twitter and Instagram accounts for my book nerd extraordinaire alter ego, thatnerdybitch7. :) Other interests include Jesus, my boyfriend, Disney movies, and collecting!

Interview with kylieqxoxo
Bibliognome: Why do you think it’s important to review books?

kylieqxoxo: Book reviewing is important to me because not only does it give me and other reviewers a chance to work out our (often complex) feelings about all the books we read, it also allows other readers to share in our passionate love or hatred of the books! Sharing is caring!

Bibliognome: What’s been your favorite book so far this year?

kylieqxoxo: HARD QUESTION. Probably The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison. That woman is a genius, and I cannot wait for her next book to come out!

Bibliognome:Hardcover, paperback or ebook?

kylieqxoxo: Paperback. I know it's weird, but I have alot of quirks about reading, i.e. I wrinkle the pages and flip a pen while I read, and that's easier for me with paperbacks. Also, I'm a poor college student, and they're cheaper.

Bibliognome: What super power would you want the most?

kylieqxoxo: I have always wanted to be able to fly. Not only would that just be insane (Maximum Ride anyone?), but I'm a total homebody, so if I could just fly away from somewhere I didn't want to be, that would rock.

Bibliognome: If you had a gnome, what would its name be?

kylieqxoxo: Um, Bernard, obviously.

Bibliognome: What’s your favorite book or series?

kylieqxoxo: Harry Potter is my favorite series of all time, because not only is the series timeless, the fandom is amazing!
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was, and will always be, my first book love.

Bibliognome: What’s your favorite book to movie adaption?

kylieqxoxo:Another strikingly hard one. I'm gonna go with The Hobbit. Amazing, in my opinion better than LOTR. I could watch that movie like five times a day.

Bibliognome: Anything else we should know about you?

kylieqxoxo:I'm super spazzy, passionate about my books, and a pretty chill person. So feel free to HMU on Twitter or my blog! :)

Meet Oona, Bibliognome's new Reviewer

Today I'm very happy to introduce/welcome Bibliognome's new reviewer, Oona.  I'm thrilled to have another reviewer because this will allow Bibliognome to review even more books and to of course be even more awesome.  :)

Oona's Bio:  As I child, I was unable to read until I was in third grade due to undectected visual problems (yes, I need glasses!).  Once my visual problems were corrected I began to gobble up books.  I had so much catching up to do!  I managed to spend most of my childhood and teen years reading for fun - in between school work that is.  And that's pretty much how it stayed as an adult.  I became and stayed a reader, lover of books, and ultimately a librarian.  I'm sure my parents never realized what I'd turn into, since I didn't either.  But they don't complain, they just hit me up for book recommendations, LOL.

Interview with Oona

Bibliognome:  Why do you think it's important to review books?

Oona:   Reviews often get people who would not read to pick up a book and try it.  And sometimes, encouraging that "reluctant" reader results in the reader becoming a life long reader.  You just never know.  Besides, reading opens doors, and minds.

Bibliognome:  What's been your favorite book so far this year?

Oona:  Oh, well there's two or more you know.  No such thing as ONE favorite book!  I was waiting on Jim Butcher's excellent "Cold Days" which I read in one sitting.  PI Wizard Harry Dresend wins against all odds, but get's his butt kicked as usual.  Very funny and lots of questions answered.  But I was also very pleased to see the newest offering from Illona Andrews in the Edge series - "Steel's Edge".  Romance & magic all in one.  And very good non explicit sex scenes, which are always SO hard to write well without sounding ridiculous.

Bibliognome:  Hardcover, paperback or ebook?
Oona :  Doesn't matter.  A book is a book no matter what format.  As long as its not audio that is... those just put me to sleep!

Bibliognome:  What super power would you want the most?
Oona:  Um... tough one.  Probably going to go with invisibility.  Now you see me, now you don't.

Bibliognome:  If you had a gnome, what would its name be?

Oona:  Stalwart, that seems a very gnomish sort of word....

Bibliognome:  What’s your favorite book or series?

Oona:  There's too many to count.  At the moment I'm quite gaga for Mr. Butcher's Harry Dresden books, but those are soooo slow to come out.  Only one a year!  I make do with other writers like Illona Andrews or Karen Chance or the wonderful Patricia Briggs (great werewolfs, vamps and a certain butt kicking stubborn coyote shifter).

Bibliognome:  What’s your favorite book to movie adaption?

Oona:  Ah well.  Gotta go with a classic - Lord of the Rings of course (all 3 movies, I'm holding off on the Hobbit as I've yet to see that one.)

Bibliognome:  Anything else we should know about you?

Oona:  I'm referred to in certain circles as the Cat Lady Kayaker a.k.a Adventure Cat.  Spend too much time around me and you'll either be carting a feline looking for a home back to your place, all the while wondering where the hell you got it from and why you agreed to adopt it -- Or, you'll wind up in one of my adorable wooden kayaks paddling to god knows where and freezing your tushie off.  (Yes, I'm certifiable - see "cat lady".)
