I was the very happy winner of the Kat's North American Book Birthday (and Giveaway!) that Stephanie Burgis put together in celebration of her book Kat, Incorrigible.  The book is great so I was even happier to win the giveaway for the awesome necklace.  It even showed up in the mail in time for me to wear it to work today.

Sentence Sneak Peek - The Emerald Atlas

The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens

The first sentence from each chapter of The Emerald Atlas, it's a mini summary of what you can expect to read.

Prologue: "The girl was shaken awake."

"The hat in question was owned by Mrs. Constance Lovestock."

"The train jerked, waking Kate."

"Still asleep, are we?"

"At dinner, they told Miss Sallow that Michael wasn't feeling well and had gone to bed."

Goodbye to Meg - my dog whose picture inspired me to call the blog Bibliognome

Such a hard day today.  Had to say goodbye to Meg, she was an old girl but I've had her practically forever and she was more my dog then anyone else's (my Mom used to call her my shadow).  It was a really hard decision to make but she just wasn't well at all anymore and didn't want her to suffer.  So in her memory here are some pictures that show her personality pretty well.

Top 5 Paranormal Powers I'd Like to Have

Psychometry - the power to know the history of objects by just touching them.  Of course this power could cause lets of problems but I think the troubles would be worth it.

It would be great to have the ability to morph into any animal just by having touched that animal and absorbed its DNA.  Of course there are consequences for this power like the whole time limit that if you go over you'll be stuck as that animal but all the experiences you would have would so be worth it.  :)

Super Speed would be great because it would save a lot of gas money and travel time.

Atticus has some awesome powers that I would love to have even though I don't think I would really have enough patience to become a druid.

Teleportation = would be quite the handy power to have and would allow me to travel anywhere as long as I remembered it clearly and had been there at least once.  I would love saving time and money by traveling this way.

Weekend Reads

Friday - Last night I stayed up until after one in the morning just so I could finish reading The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens.  It was such a great book, a definite 5 gnomes out of 5 gnomes read.  It feels like a grand mix of the Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events books with the best things about both series combined.  This looks to be a very promising new series and I know I can't wait to read the next one.

For the rest of the weekend I'll be reading Enclave by Ann Aguire.  I've heard such good things about this book and can't wait to start reading.

Awesome Audio - The Shawshank Redemption Audio Book

We here at Bibliognome are relatively new at listening to audio books, so Tiny Reverse Vampire decided to check some out from the library and then review them.
